Why You Must Prioritize Yourself

Putting yourself first is not selfish, it’s necessary.

I used to never prioritize myself.

My needs and desires came second to everyone else’s needs and desires that it’s no wonder I experienced severe burnout early in life.

When the pandemic settled in, I used the newfound space to do something I loved but never had time for: being in wilderness. I hiked, drove through mountain backroads, and foraged for flowers and berries.

I realized in those moments that being outside and in nature is something my body, mind, and spirit NEEDED to reconnect to my playful nature.

It was then that I made the connection between doing something that I love first was necessary to my showing up fully in my work, my relationships, all areas of my life.

Do you have a tendency to prioritize the desires and needs of others before your own? What is one thing you can do once a week that’s just for you?
